Robert has a niche practice, specialising in defending SRA Investigations and Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal proceedings. He regularly appears at the SDT. His recent experience includes successfully defending a solicitor accused of acting without integrity in a fraudulent conveyancing transaction, successfully resisting an SRA appeal to the Administrative Court seeking to overturn an SDT sanction. Successfully appealing and quashing a decision by the SDT to strike a solicitor from the roll, restoring her to practice. Successfully retaining the PC of a solicitor implicated in a large oil & gas fraud with substantial client losses, successfully guiding firms of solicitors through SRA Forensic Investigations without further action, including a firm experiencing substantial thefts from client account over a long period. Successfully settling an investigation concerning a long term prohibited referral fee arrangement.

Career

Robert is a Senior Consultant Solicitor, having been part of Murdochs' award winning team team for in excess of 20 years. He has lead advanced training courses on solicitors professional discipline and regulation for MBL Seminars Ltd, and written on the field for Lexis Nexis PSL. He was appointed External Adviser to the SRA in its Compensation Arrangements Review 2012-2014 to give a Defence practitioner's view. He acted in two recent Administrative Court Appeals Kiani v SRA [2015] EWHC 1981 (Admin), SRA v Kadurugamuwa [2017] citation pending.
