They also advise individuals on the tax treatment and structuring of a broad range of financial and alternative investment asset classes. Withers’ strength and depth in this area means that they have an unparalleled experience of robust international tax and trust planning. Withers has the largest litigation team in the world specialising in advising clients with domestic or international contentious trust and probate litigation matters. The team also advises elderly and vulnerable clients in the Court of Protection.
Litigation & Arbitration: Withers has an established international dispute resolution practice, with over 70 litigation and regulatory lawyers across offices in London, Milan, the British Virgin Islands, Hong Kong, Singapore, New York, Greenwich (Connecticut) and New Haven. The team acts in complex multi-jurisdictional disputes and international arbitrations of all kinds. Languages spoken fluently within the group include Italian, French, Russian, Arabic, Romanian, German, Spanish, Turkish, Azerbaijani and Greek. The team are known for their knowledge and understanding of European litigation procedures; their Italian practice in particular is firmly established in the market, with clients appreciating their experience in ‘translating’ between Italian law and common law jurisdictions such as the UK.
