Civil Practice with particular expertise in personal injury, aviation, and public inquiries. Junior counsel for the families in the ICL Public Inquiry (Stockline) in 2008 with associated personal injury claims. In 2010-2012, junior counsel for families and survivors at the Vale of Leven Public Inquiry (C. difficile outbreak). Aviation experience includes the Glasgow Air Crash in 2001, the Edinburgh Air Crash in 2003/2004 and the Machrihanish Air Crash 2007 (Fatal Accident Inquiries and reparation claims). Represented the pilot union BALPA in numerous reparation cases. Currently involved in high profile aviation litigation and Fatal Accident Inquiry into the hospital death of a 13 year old (acting for mother). Other Fatal Accident Inquiries include death of a prisoner in custody (acting for prison union), erroneous dispensing of drugs in a hospital (acting for Responsible Pharmacist) and complex medical issues surround the hospital death of a 12 year old (acting for family) and actively involved in reparation. 2010 Court of Session proofs include Lyons v WM Morrison Supermarket plc 2010 Rep. LR 90 (manual handling) and Fordyce v Acrima Insurance 7 May 2010 unreported (road traffic reconstruction). Other reported cases include Clegg and Another v Rogerson and Another 2007 CSIH 87 (Network Rail responsibilities at a level crossing), LaMarra v Capital Bank plc and others 2007 SC 95 (Consumer credit), Ashmore v Rock Steady Security Limited 2006 SLT 207 (assault, defence of provocation, examination of ex turpi causa), Millar and others v Watt and Others 2005 SCLR 143 (whether death of infant case suitable for jury trial), Lewis v Richardson 2002 SLT 272 (rta), Skinner v Aberdeen City Council 2001 Rep LR 118 (manual handling), McLeod v British Railway Board 2001 SC 534 (appeal on level of damages assessed by jury).
