In 2016, Nigel Lithman QC was instructed in four murder trials, He also holds a brief to defend an accountant in “Operation Hornet“ arising out of alleged fraudulent events at the bank: HBOS. The paperwork exceeds 170,000 pages. This year he appeared in the Court of Appeal in a Joint Enterprise conviction appeal. Meanwhile he continues to sit as a Recorder at the Old Bailey. In 2015 his fraud practice continued with his representing a City trader in a Film taxation fraud . He appeared on a number of occasions in the Court of Appeal seeking to overturn serious sexual offences and murder convictions in which he had not appeared for the appellants in the court below. During the last years, Nigel Lithman QC justified the faith that his professional colleagues placed in him when they elected him to lead the Criminal Bar. His approach was to show the same tenacity as Chairman of the Criminal Bar Association that he does in representing his clients in court. The Government withdrew its declared scheme to cut fees. Meanwhile during the same years he maintained his involvement in the most serious and diverse criminal cases. During a substantial part of 2013 he represented an accountant charged as a prime mover in Operation Savate a nationwide construction industry fraud. The accountant was alleged to be the lynch pin uniting the various frauds. This was the fifth professional man (the others being an accountant, a barrister, a solicitor and a managing director) he has represented within two years. His practice in fraud has seen him instructed in both the largest SFO Case ever brought and also one of the most valuable Ponzi Scheme frauds, He appears regularly in Health and Safety cases an example of which involved a fatality when a lorry with a HIAB crane attached, turned over. In 2014 he advised in a Death by Dangerous Driving case, a harassment case and an indecent assault case. These were accepted by him under the Direct Access procedure. Nigel Lithman QC successfully defended in a four month trading standards case. He represented the three directors of a substantial company acquitted of conspiracy to defraud. Nigel Lithman QC undertakes a broad cross section of private and legally aided cases instructed by Solicitors or under the Direct Access Scheme.

Married with 3 Step Children, has been Chairman of Highgate Synagogue since May 2008. Enjoys work in the community, supporting Leyton Orient F.C. and watching good football, horse racing and is well known as a very funny after dinner speaker.
