Personal Injury; Public and Fatal Accident Inquiries; Clinical and Professional Negligence; Angela Grahame QC is the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Advocates. She is the second woman to hold this position in the history of the Faculty. She has extensive experience in many challenging and high profile cases. She has been instructed in two public inquiries: (i) for Greater Glasgow Health Board in the Vale of Leven Public Inquiry; and (ii) for the Lord Advocate in the Fingerprint Inquiry. In the last eighteen months, Angela has conducted many proofs in the Court of Session, including: (i) the first mesothelioma proof of its kind in Scotland; (ii) a complex medical negligence proof involving the death of a patient in hospital; (iii) a proof consequent upon a fatal road traffic collision; and (iv) an accident involving a horse trainer, injured falling from a horse at work. Angela has also negotiated settlements in many claims, including a catastrophic brain injury case involving 24 hour care and valued at over £12 million. She is regularly instructed in industrial disease actions, involving mesothelioma and lung cancer. Angela speaks regularly on the law and practice relating to personal injury, damages, Article 2 claims and clinical negligence.

Angela was elected the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Advocates in July 2016. Angela called to the bar in 1995 and took silk in 2009. She was appointed as a full time Advocate Depute in 2003 and promoted to Senior Advocate Depute in 2005. She was appointed as a Legal Member, Police Appeals Tribunal in April 2013. In 2014. She was Co-Director of Compass Chambers (2014 – 2016)
Angela is a qualified Instructor and has taught advocacy skills to the Solicitors’ profession; devils at the Faculty of Advocates; and at the University of Edinburgh. She has previously written articles in the Scottish Law Gazette, Juridical Review, Greens Civil Practice Bulletin; and Greens Reparation Bulletin.
