Lambadarios Law Firm was founded in 1863 by Konstantinos E Lambadarios Sr in Athens and has been operating continuously since then with a well-respected Greek and international clientele. Today the firm today has 12 lawyers and nine partners, all located at its offices in the centre of Athens. Many partners and associates are well respected individuals in their fields of expertise both nationally and internationally. The firm established itself as a leader in the field of foreign direct investments during the 1960s and 1970s. Since then, it continues to advise a number of international corporations that came to invest in Greece during that era. With a solid base of clients, the firm has grown considerably diversifying the categories of work that the firm offers to its clients. It is the firm’s policy to strive to provide a high level of legal advice without disregarding personal contact with clients. Proof of this approach is that the firm has clients who have been with it for over 30 years, such as Goodyear, Procter & Gamble, Heineken and Dow Chemical. In 2016 the firm was awarded the Chambers “Law Firm of the Year Award” for outstanding achievement in the year. The firm also added as Partner Kostas Botopoulos, the former chairman of the Hellenic Capital Markets Commission, further strengthening its capital markets and banking expertise. Recognising the impact of data protection business, it recently decided to create a separate TMT department headed by Chara Daouti, the firm’s expert in IT, data privacy and internet law who advises clients on issues relating to business, including GDPR compliance.

Banking & Finance & Capital Markets:
The firm’s banking and finance practice represents clients in all aspects of financing transactions. Transactions range from origination and negotiation to documentation and closing, and when necessary, to enforcement and reorganisation. The firm also advises clients on the issuance of bond loans and IPOs. It recently advised a major international bank on dept. capital and securitisation, Hines Inc. on its investments in Greece. Also, the firm recently completed a EUR 400 million credit facility for a French multinational and the Single Liquidator project for the servicing of EUR 9 bn of NPL’s by a consortium including Hoist Finance and PWC.
Project Finance & Public Procurement:
The firm advised the formation of a 50/50 joint venture between a leading Greek construction company and a major Italian energy company for the development of energy projects through project financing including EPC contracts. The firm has been retained by a consortium led by a major construction company for advising on three Greek PPP’s on waste management for a combined value of €300 million. On public procurement the firm advises pharmaceutical, tire, heavy machinery and aircraft manufacturers on government tenders. The firm has been retained by a consortium to advise on the EUR 1 billion new international airport in Kasteli, Crete.
The firm routinely advises both domestic and multinational clients on all aspects of competition law including the formation of selective and exclusive distribution networks in Greece, Dominance and Cartel cases. Members of the team have recently handled a number of high profile cases, including dominance and price fixing allegations. Recently, they worked on two cases involving allegations of concerted practices, abuse of collective dominance and export bans in the book sector and is currently representing a leading beer producer on issues of abuse of dominance. They also advised on the filling to the HCC and the clearance of the merger of two major Greek Banks. The firm has also recently handled two Phase II merger investigations by the HCC that have been cleared on the commitments offered by the parties. It is also advising on the first ever crisis case and the most complex cartel case to come to the HCC involving over 50 construction companies.
Intellectual Property & Data Privacy:
The firm’s practice includes IP portfolio management and consulting as well as copyright, trademark and unfair competition litigation. The firm regularly advises its clients on their online practices as to copyrights, data processing and protection, domain names and consumer protection. It also advises Sony Music on copyright issues relating to the production of music and artists’ rights as well as the leading US search engine on all IP and privacy matters including litigation on data privacy matters and the ‘right to be forgotten’ case law.
Litigation & Arbitration:
The practice is top tier with four partners ranked by this edition both in domestic litigation and international commercial arbitration. It represents clients in all types of proceedings, from applications for injunctions to complex, cross-border litigation as well as representation in the European Court of Justice. The firm has recently been involved in a number of high profile ICC arbitrations against the Greek state representing SAIC S.A. on a multimillion breach of contract claim and two Spanish construction companies in their claims against the Greek state arising out of two road concession projects with a combined value of over €2 billion. On the litigation front, it has recently represented Goodyear Tires and Athens Paper- Mill, in two precedent setting cases in the Athens Supreme Court and the European Court of Justice concerning disputes over collective redundancies with ex-employees resulting from the closing down of their factories in Greece. Recently the firm won a EUR 200 million award for a French client in an ICC arbitration.
Corporate & Mergers & Acquisitions:
The firm’s expertise includes due diligence reviews, initial public offerings, acquisitions as well as an active advisory role to a number of clients listed in the Athens Stock Exchange. It advises on all aspects of M&A transactions, from the structuring of the deal, its negotiation and documentation and, if required, filings to the HCC. The firm has worked on advising Diamond Resorts on its acquisition of a timesharing company, with interests in five hotels on Greek islands, Kerneos Aluminate on its acquisition of a Mining Company with Bauxite concessions in Greece, a leading Greek company on the acquisition by an Indian conglomerate and a private equity fund on the acquisition of a Greek listed entity.
