■ Represent ELG Utica Alloys, Inc. with respect to a New York State Superfund site in Utica, NY. This site involves PCB contamination, including potential off-site concerns. Phillips Lytle is leading the process to recover remedial costs from potentially responsible parties for the site and in negotiations with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation on regulatory compliance and remedy selection matters. Phillips Lytle’s real estate development practice has nationally recognized experience representing large corporations, public utilities, municipalities, institutional lenders, REITS, private developers, individuals and others in connection with large and small commercial, industrial and retail projects.

■ Represented Sovran Self Storage, Inc. with all real estate aspects of the transaction involving the acquisition of Life Storage, Inc., the largest privately-owned self-storage operation in the United States, consisting of over 90 self-storage properties owned, managed or under contract, in a number of states, for a purchase of approximately $1.3 billion. ■ Represented The Pike Development Company LLC in the acquisition of the former Midtown Plaza site from the City of Rochester and the development of a build-to-suit office building for the headquarters of Gannett Company, Inc. The firm negotiated and closed the acquisition of the parcel from the City of Rochester, the negotiation of a package of economic incentives, the lease of the space to Gannett and the construction financing for the project. ■ Represented Sovran Self Storage Inc., a publicly traded REIT in the acquisition of Life Storage, Inc., the largest privately-owned self-storage operation in the United States, for a purchase price of approximately $1.3 billion.
