Profile submitted by Beverley Merrell
Beverley has experience in a wide range of commercial property matters but specialises in acting for private pension schemes and acting for tenants in non-contentious leasehold matters. A substantial amount of Beverley’s work is for professional trustees. This work has led to her forming a client base of individuals and companies with substantial property portfolios. Beverley also acts as the external legal advisor for a nationwide hire and distribution company, which has many commercial leasehold properties in the UK.
Beverley is Head of the commercial property department at BHW and has been with the firm since her legal career began. Beverley joined BHW in 2004 as a property paralegal and following her qualification in 2006 as an assistant solicitor, she swiftly became associate and then Partner. In 2017, Beverley secured the role of Head of Department, overseeing all of the department’s work (including its specialist areas of secured lending, agriculture, private pension work, retail, leisure & distribution and concession work). At BHW, Beverley has gained a great deal of experience covering most aspects of freehold and leasehold commercial property work. Beverley takes the time to get to know clients and their businesses. This has meant that the vast majority of her work is from either repeat business and / or client recommendations. She always goes the ‘extra mile’ for her clients and adopts a sensible, commercial approach to transactions in an effort to get things done!
