Profile submitted by Vikki Watt
Vikki is a Partner in the health and safety team. She is a Solicitor Advocate specialising in the defence of health and safety, marine, environmental and white collar criminal prosecutions. Inevitably high profile, her cases have included steering two sole trader clients through prosecutions bucking the trend and avoiding the imposition of custodial sentences. Her fatal accident inquiries portfolio continues to grow and in 2017 she has appeared at the first joint inquiry under the new fatal accident inquiry rules for the deaths at the Snowman and Jim Clark Rally. Instructed at the outset to protect her clients’ business and reputation, over the past twelve years, she has forged strong links with the main regulators and prosecutors in Scotland (including the HSE, SEPA, MCA). Her proactive approach sees her instructed from the inception of major incidents to provide advice at the crucial investigation stage, representing her clients at interviews under caution and advising on thorny privilege issues. Clients range from directors and senior managers to large multi-national PLCs in all sectors. She is the ‘go to’ Panel solicitor for a number of insurers in health and safety matters and regularly receives referral work from market leaders South of the Border.
