THE FIRM Barratts Solicitors, is a small niche practice consisting only of experienced and senior lawyers; the unique service is client led, with the firm only acting for clients who have suffered personal injury, or disease, as a result of work, traffic and leisure accidents, clinical negligence or criminal assaults.

Those clients who lack capacity are supported by the Court of Protection team during and after litigation. The firm is partner led with all cases actively handled by only senior lawyers. Unlike most firms, the experienced lawyers remain at the forefront of the litigation, avoiding high caseloads so time can be properly dedicated to complex claims. The firm’s expertise has resulted in consistent top ranking by legal peer reviews. Barratts’ expertise covers all areas of personal injury and clinical negligence but the firm is particularly recognised for its work with clients affected by brain injury, spinal injury, cerebral palsy, misdiagnosis and serious surgical error. Awards of 7 figures are regularly achieved but the firm also handles lower value claims, with the same level of care and determination provided to every client.

The firm also works with clients to pursue fatal claims and can provide representation at Inquests. It has a strong reputation for criminal injury compensation claims including terrorist attacks. The deputy service is thriving, with continuity of service enhanced following the arrival of Julie Greenwood to run the deputy team in 2015.

Whilst many firms have merged, Barratts has actively worked to remain as a small practice, listening to what clients want, namely experienced personal injury and clinical negligence lawyers with a dedicated one to one service for each client; this achieves consistency and the highest quality of advice. The staff turnover remains extremely low so clients are properly supported by someone who genuinely knows about their case.

The firm has not had to rely on paid referrals, the majority of work coming from former clients and other medical and legal professionals. Barratts’ success is possible because of the proactive role offered to clients in a sympathetic environment. The lawyers pursue rehabilitation and interim payments as soon as possible and frequently reopen cases which were not pursued by other firms. The firm has avoided the use of numerous paralegal and inexperienced lawyers so now rarely handles low-value cases which fall within the Fast Track.

Barratts Solicitors is proud of its local reputation in the Midlands but receives referrals from all over the UK and abroad. The partners have experience of foreign jurisdictions and have previously spoken at International Conferences. All the lawyers are involved in pro bono work with local head injury and children’s charities supported. As most firms have merged and struggled with changes in the personal injury and clinical negligence sector, Barratts Solicitors continues to thrive by sticking to what it does best and continuing its aim to be the 1st choice for clients. The firm plans to continue the same approach of a bespoke, personal service, employing only the best lawyers to maximise results for injured clients.
