Real Estate: Real estate sits at the heart of Forsters – it is the sector on which the firm was founded and is the largest practice area. With 90 lawyers specialising solely in real estate, the team is well positioned to guide clients through the full property life-cycle, whether it be an acquisition, disposal, development or property dispute. The practice’s sophisticated client base receives integrated advice delivered at a consistently high level across all property service lines, which include residential property, landed estates and mixed use schemes.
Private Client: Forsters private client practice is one of the largest and most experienced teams in the market. Its expert private client and wealth management lawyers provide advice on all aspects of wealth planning to a range of clients including; individuals, trustees, family offices and private banks. The firm has a strong reputation in the US, Asia, the Middle East and other global wealth centres. Their advice is tailored to meet clients’ objectives – which might include tax efficiency, asset protection or succession planning.
Dispute Resolution: Taking matters to court is not the only route to resolving a dispute even though sometimes it is necessary and vital to fight for the right outcome. With many alternative dispute resolution options, Forsters aims to guide clients to find the route that is best suited to the situation they find themselves in. Clients come from all over the world, and Forsters also acts for an increasing number of high net worth individuals who have business and personal interests in the UK.
Over the last 12 months Forsters has grown significantly with the recruitment of the London private wealth team from Gowling WLG. The team includes four partners – Anthony Thompson, Catharine Bell, Nicholas Jacob and Daniel Ugur – as well as ten solicitors and five other members of staff. The private client team at Forsters now comprises 50 lawyers. In addition, the following partners joined the firm; Ben Barrison (property litigation) joined from DLA Piper, Heather Corben (banking and tax) joined from King & Wood Mallesons LLP, Victoria Du Croz (planning) joined from Hogan Lovells, Simon Gorham (employment) joined from Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP and Rosie Schumm (family) joined from Wedlake Bell. Internally, Guy Abrahams was promoted to partner.
