Principally instructed Counsel for BBC Scotland and additional regularly appearing for a range of national newspapers, broadcasters and high profile individuals in media matters. He has appeared in a number of important recent cases (including the Supreme Court) redefining media coverage of court proceedings in Scotland and additionally the leading defamation decision of the Inner House on qualified privilege, honest comment and defamatory meaning. His practice also includes clinical negligence, personal injury and public law. He is a Standing Junior to the Scottish Government.
