Defamation/Privacy work includes Cooper v ANL (award of £65,000 for allegation of masterminding the Millbank riots); Tesla v BBC (suing Top Gear for mis-representing performance of electric car); McAlpine v Bercow (twitter libel alleging child abuse); Fox v Boulter (action by former defence secretary); McGrath v Prof Dawkins (comment thread on website); MPS & SOCA v TNL (suing to restrain use of leaked reports); Ecclestone v Khyami (privacy claim and dispute over ownership of Lambourghini). Conducts a wide range of commercial work including: disputes over the management and ownership or the sale of businesses and the misconduct (including fraud) of directors and employees; claims alleging the mis-selling of interest rate hedging products and tax efficient schemes. He has appeared at appellate level in both Trinidad & Tobago and the DIFC on property-related matters. He undertakes serious personal injury work and in recent years has obtained substantial awards for: a teenage girl severely brain damaged after walking out from behind a parked car; a boy who suffered serious burns from electricity arcing to his fishing rod on a railway and a man who watched his daughter and grandchildren burn to death in a tower block fire.
