Anne Studd QC has been instructed by the police and other public authorities over many years. As a junior and in silk she has been involved in very many of the high profile cases and inquiries. Currently, she is retained by Greater Manchester Police, Wiltshire Police and Avon and Somerset Police in the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse and the Undercover Policing Inquiry. She is also regularly instructed in claims for judicial review on a wide range of subjects including police disciplinary matters see R (on the application of Williams) v Police Appeals Tribunal & Anor  EWHC 2708 (Admin) impact of mitigation in disciplinary proceedings; the lawful disclosure of information under the Police Act 1997see conjoined appeals R (P ) v SSHD and another  EWCA Civ 321 (disclosure of reprimand for sexual offence committed whilst a child); The Hillsborough Inquests leading Counsel for St John Ambulance; Inquest (and consequent civil action) arising from the death of Kingsley Burrell powers of police in mental health setting; Inquest into the death of Luisa Mendes- extent of Article 2 general duty arising from failures of control room response.
