WORK UNDERTAKEN
Five Paper has four thriving practice teams:

COMMERCIAL: The commercial team works with clients involved in commercial finance, insolvency and asset recovery. The team specialises in factoring and invoice discounting, corporate insolvency, trade finance and the sale of goods, credit and securities, breach of directors’ and fiduciary duties, personal bankruptcy, civil fraud and tracing and enforcement against land.

PROPERTY: The property team specialises in acting for local authorities, registered providers of social housing, and private landlords and tenants in the areas of housing, residential landlord and tenant law and public law, as well as property-related discrimination law. The team is also experienced in all property-related fields, including real property/general chancery work, commercial landlord and tenant law, and probate.

Employment: The employment team provides a full-service for all types of employment matters. The team also has specialists in regulatory matters, such as health and safety at work, with barristers on the List of Specialist Regulatory Advocates in health and safety and environmental law who are certified for this type of work and also business immigration.

FAMILY: The family team specialises in all types of financial order cases, Schedule 1 cases, Children Act cases, financial provision and matrimonial jurisdiction law. The team has recently expanded its areas of expertise and members are now regularly instructed in matrimonial finance and children cases which touch upon issues of bankruptcy, housing and inheritance.

PUBLICATIONS Five Paper’s senior members edit some of the leading specialist law publications. These include: Gutteridge and Megrah’s Law of Bankers’ Commercial Credits, 8th edition by Richard King; Sir Roy Goode’s Proprietary Rights and Insolvency in Sales Transactions, 2nd edition by Simon Mills; Salinger on Factoring, 4th edition by Simon Mills and others.

RECRUITMENT Pupils spend time with different practice teams to experience a wide variety of work. Pupils receive an award of £25,000 each plus guaranteed earnings in the second six of £5,000. Five Paper also encourages applications from barristers with ten or more years’ experience within one of their specialist areas. Please contact the clerks for details.
