CRB AFRICA LEGAL (the firm or CRB), celebrated its 7th Anniversary in the market in February 2016.Founded in February 2009 as a solo practice (originally under the name CRB ATTORNEYS), the firm has steadily developed to win a place among the top ranking reputable providers of corporate legal services in Tanzania. The firm has three partners, six associates and five legal officers.

Within a year of commencing business the firm was profiled in the prestigious 2010 Edition of IFLR 1000 (the Guide to the World’s Leading Financial Law Firms) and it has consistently been featured in the subsequent editions including the 2015 Edition. (www.iflr1000.com).

In 2012 the firm featured in Chambers Global (the World’s Leading Lawyers for Business) (www.chambersandpartners. com), ranked under Band 3 in the general business law category of leading law firms and Charles R B Rwechungura, the founder of the firm and its managing partner, was ranked under Band 2 in the leading individuals categories in general business law and dispute resolution categories. It has since been ranked in all the subsequent Chambers Global editions.

Since 2012, the managing partner of the firm has annually been listed in the mining and banking editions of the Who’s Who Legal publications (www.whoswholegal.com).

The firm is duly registered as a partnership under the laws of Tanzania and has a USD 2 million professional indemnity cover from a reputable insurer, ICEA Lion Insurance Company (T) Limited.

Banking & Finance:
As of 2016, the CRB team of professional lawyers includes the managing partner, principle partner, junior partner, six associates and five legal officers. Out of these, ten are duly admitted practicing Advocates. The vision of the firm is to become and remain a provider of a broad spectrum of high quality services to the satisfaction of clients. Although the firm is relatively new in the market, the three partners between them have vast experience as corporate and general legal practitioners in the Tanzanian market and in handling complex international transactions in various fields.

International:
CRB does not have an exclusive association with any single international law firm. Rather, it consorts and works closely with a wide range of reputable international law firms including but not limited to Clifford Chance, White & Case, Werksmans (South Africa), Albright Law (Beijing), Addleshaw Goddard, Baker & McKenzie and Slaughter May .This allows the firm to get a seamless exposure to its lawyers to acquire a rich diversified experience in international legal and business practices.

Clients:
The firm’s clients include large and medium sized local and foreign mining companies, multinationals, including banks with or without corporate presence in Tanzania, insurance companies, gas exploration companies, airlines, and beverage manufacturing and trading companies.
