Department profile submitted by Banwo & Ighodalo
The Litigation, Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution Practice Group is led by Mrs. Abimbola Akeredolu, SAN (equivalent of Queen’s Counsel) and supported by a team of Litigation, Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution experts.
We undertake litigation, especially commercial litigation, arbitration as well as alternative dispute resolution (ADR) procedure on behalf of our clients. We have represented clients in complex commercial and cross boarder litigation; domestic and international arbitration matters involving energy disputes, construction contracts, shipping, international trade, and telecommunication contracts under major international arbitration rules.
We also have considerable experience in family law and have recently handled notable family law matters from clients within and outside Nigeria.
We support other practices in the firm, notably, the corporate and energy practice groups. Thus, we have helped to extend and clarify the frontiers of commercial and energy law in Nigeria, especially through litigation.
In advising clients, we consider all avenues of dispute resolution with a view to recommending the most appropriate option. Our priority is to resolve disputes quickly and efficiently with minimal disruption to our client’s businesses.
