Sofia is Partner and founding member of Sofia Galvão Advogados, a boutique, Portugal based Territory Law firm. She has a vast experience in all matters concerning Territory, namely Land and Maritime Spatial Planning, Real Estate, Tourism, Environment, EU Funds, Construction, Ports, Public Procurement and Administrative Concessions.

Previously, Partner at PLMJ, in the Planning practice, and Partner at Sérvulo Correia & Associados and later at Vieira de Almeida & Associados, in the Real Estate, Planning and Environment practice. Sofia was Secretary of State for Public Administration and Secretary of State of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers in the 16th Constitutional Government.

Sofia graduated from the School of Law at the University of Lisbon, where she also received her Master’s in Legal Sciences. At the School of Law, she taught as an assistant professor and has maintained a close collaboration as a lecturer in post-graduate studies and seminars. Sofia has been a visiting professor at the School of Law of Universidade Nova de Lisboa and a speaker at various conferences and courses. Sofia is a member of the Advisory Committee of Specialists on the next Program Cycle for European Funds (2014-2020). She is a renowned Lawyer on Territory, being named Portuguese Lawyer of the Year by Best Lawyers in 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017 (Real Estate and Planning), Recommended Lawyer by The Legal 500 in 2015 and 2017 (Real Estate) and Star Individual in Planning by Chambers Europe 2014 to 2017 (and also Recommended Lawyer in Real Estate). She speaks English and French.
