Practice involves insolvency proceedings including bankruptcy, receivership and restructuring proceedings under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA), the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, the Canada Business Corporations Act and other corporate legislation. Considerable experience in cross-border matters under the CCAA and Chapter 15 of the United States Bankruptcy Code. Represents private and public companies in court and in insolvency-related commercial transactions. Regularly acts in insolvency proceedings on behalf of debtors and various stakeholders including lenders, purchasers, directors, receivers and other court officers. Represents prospective purchasers in pursuing and completing asset sales in domestic and cross-border insolvency proceedings.
