Department profile by McCormicks

Our team has a strong reputation and presence, both locally and nationally, in respect of all areas of Crime, together with a growing reputation in respect of regulatory matters, as well as road traffic cases.

The firm was only one of four who succeeded in the original tendering process for a Duty Solicitor Contract for the whole of North Yorkshire 1 Area and was the first firm in the region to be allocated a Legal Aid franchise when the scheme began.

The team handles the full spectrum of criminal work from motoring to murder. Particular specialisms include historical sexual abuse cases, drugs conspiracy cases, serious fraud and corporate manslaughter.

We are one of the few firms in the North East eligible to deal with Very High Costs Cases and received one of the highest rankings in the country in the most recent Legal Aid Agency's peer review audit.

The team has a growing reputation for Professional Discipline cases, which regularly turn into criminal matters, with a particular specialism in representing Pharmacists, as a result of being on the defence Panel of the National Pharmacy Association. In addition, we represent solicitors, accountants and other professionals who find themselves before the Criminal Courts.
