The firm is a member of Eurojuris, an association of European Law Firms. Harris Cartier acts for international and domestic banks covering all aspects of their securitisation requirements. Recent years have seen an increasing focus on international business both in Europe and beyond.

PRINCIPAL AREAS OF WORK
Corporate & Commercial: A rapidly expanding department dealing with a wide range of corporate transactions. Services include MBI/MBO, company sales/purchases, mergers and acquisitions, corporate finanace, shareholders’ agreements, employment contracts, commercial contracts and licenses, intellectual property matters (including trademarks, copyright and domain names), company formations and company secretarial matters, drafting partnership agreements and dissolution of partnership agreements, commercial property, takeovers, commercial negotiations, commercial litigation, insolvency and receivership, employment, terms and conditions of sale, e-commerce, IT and data protection and service contracts and EU Law.
Commercial Property: The firm’s skilled lawyers deal with all aspects of commercial property to include property investment, development projects, landlord and tenant, commercial business sales and purchases, freehold and leasehold sales and purchases, shareholder and company issues, company secretary, finance and tax issues.
Commercial Litigation/Dispute Resolution: Based in London, but supported by their Thames Valley office, the team handles a wide range of litigation, including complex international disputes with damages running into the hundreds of millions. Although they assist UK entities, from start-ups to listed companies, they have a geniunely international outlook and have successfully acted for clients throughout Europe, the US and the Far East, to include cases involving multiple jurisdictions. They regularly litigate in the High Court, and London’s courts of Arbitration (LCIA and ICC), but will always consider alternatives, such as mediation, in appropriate cases. They also offer a full range of funding solutions tailored to each case.
Employment: This department covers all aspects of contentious and non-contentious employment law and specifically the areas of EU employment law, employment benefits, data protection, employment fraud, employment tribunals, sex/race/disability discrimination, restrictive covenants, director and employee severance, unfair/wrongful dismissal, redundancy and service agreements.
Personal Injury & Clinical Negligence: The firm has a well established reputation for acting on behalf of severely disabled victims of accidents and clinical negligence. In recent years the firm’s Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence Department has achieved a number of multi-million pound settlements/awards for spinal cord injury, brain injury and other catastrophic injury claims, including the £9.3 million in the case of ‘Biesheuvel v Birrell’ (1998). Others include ‘Dashiell v Luttit’ (1999) where damages were agreed at £5.15 million, ‘Owen v Brown’ (2002) with damages of £4.35 million, ‘Penny v Southern Derbyshire Health Authority’ (2000) with damages in excess of £3.5 million awarded at trial, ‘Stewart v United Bristol Health Care Trust’ (2002) with damages of £5.4 million, ‘A Minor v South West London Strategic Health Authority’ (2003) with damages agreed at £2.4 million, ‘Parry v Humbert’ damages awarded at £3.6 million (2005), ‘Kaur v Brar’ damages agreed at £2.1 million (2006), ‘Nicolson v Willis’ damages agreed at £4.7 million (2008), ‘Douglas v Beldray’ with damages of £4.45m (2008), ‘A Minor v HWPH NHS Foundation Trust’ (2010), a settlement approved by the Court for £4.15m and CICA case, damages of £5.2m awarded in 2011. Personnel in the Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence Department includes members of the Law Society’s Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence Panels and of the Solicitors’ Specialist Referral Panel of Action against Medical Accidents.
Family: Matters dealt with include high net worth ancillary relief, cohabitation agreements and disputes as well as divorce and children cases.
