Practice Areas: Colin Zick’s practice focuses on health care and compliance issues, and often involves the intersection of those two subjects in administrative proceedings or litigation. Mr. Zick’s work emphasizes compliance issues related to pharmaceutical, medical device and biotechnology companies, hospitals, physicians, provider organizations, and insurers. He defends clients in disputes alleging kickbacks, overpayments, and billing and coding problems, and represents clients before state and federal health care licensing and regulatory entities. Mr. Zick’s practice includes work on health care transactional matters, including the establishment of joint ventures, the creation of new entities, and drafting and negotiation of service and employment contracts. Among his accomplishments for clients are creating comprehensive corporate compliance programs, successfully representing companies and individuals against alleged violations of state and federal anti-kickback statutes, securing OIG advisory opinions, and negotiating several OIG corporate integrity agreements. Mr. Zick also counsels clients on issues involving information privacy and security such as HIPAA, and state and federal data security laws and regulations (including those of the FTC and Department of Commerce). He co-founded Foley Hoag’s Data Security and Privacy Practice Group and regularly contributes to its blog, www.securityprivacyandthelaw.com.
