Practice Areas: David is BLM Liverpool's Senior Partner and national contact partner for one of the firm's top five insurer clients. He has over 30 years' experience of acting for defendants in personal injury litigation. David personally handles a full caseload of complex personal injury cases, including fatal accidents, serious head injuries and traumatic injury, stress claims and bullying cases. He handles employers' liability, public liability and local authority litigation. His work also includes acting for police forces in disciplinary proceedings against police officers, and for defendants in health and safety prosecutions. Since 2005 David has supervised an ongoing initiative targeting fraudulent claims against local authority clients and, working particularly with Knowsley MBC and their insurers, successfully delivered with his team savings of over £7m by winning at trial or having struck out more than 300 litigated claims. Examples of reported cases include: Pickering v Liverpool Daily Post and Echo and others (HL, 1991), Griffin, Lawson and Williams v Clwyd Health Authority and others (CA, 2001) and Tyrer v Clwyd Health Authority (QBD, 2001).
