Antitrust - California

Impressed commentators single out Joel Samuels for praise, noting that "he is one of the smartest people I've met; he knows the Bankruptcy Code inside and out." He is regularly identified as an expert in acting for secured creditors and in conducting bankruptcy litigation.

The team is adept at securities matters, notably for its expertise in assisting Chinese companies involved with US securities violations. "He is fantastic, extraordinarily knowledgeable in the field and very well respected. He is very focused on details and a great overall practitioner," add commentators.

The highly regarded Marc Hayutin regularly handles a range of high-value financing transactions and disputes. "I am consistently impressed by how, when new twists and turns come into play, he has a knowledge base of that particular issue. He is also very good at explaining complicated points," says one source.

Observers highlight Scott Cooper as "a very practical lawyer with a no-nonsense approach." "He is very analytical, very bright, understands his area of expertise very well and gives good sound legal advice," according to sources. He is currently advising a major life insurance company on a number of mortgage loans.
