Chambers and Partners is always looking for talented, London-based researchers for its research team.
Excellent written and spoken English is essential as the job involves interviewing experienced practitioners about the legal markets in which they work and then summarising the findings in concise but informative editorial. We are especially interested in those with a second language. A background in law is not essential.
Some of our team are with us for just a year, filling time before starting a training contract or pupillage; others have left the legal profession, having decided not to continue practising. Operations Manager:
Salary £40-50,000
We are a fast-growing publishing and research company, employing about 200 people – editors, writers, researchers, production and support staff – at our offices in Central London. We now need an Operations Manager to assist the CEO in the day-to-day management of the business.
Candidates will have had first-class experience in managing people and in running a busy office. They will be shrewd and commercially minded, with the confidence to deal effectively with a range of senior and junior staff. They will also relish a fast-moving and evolving business environment, and will regard change – new methods, new products – not as a threat but as an opportunity to exercise their management skills.
The kind of people who do best in our business are those who are results-oriented and are driven by a desire to get things done, rather than those who focus on procedures and systems. These are the qualities that count : less important is the kind of industry candidates have worked in. Personality and talent are key, together with people skills and a natural aptitude for management.
