Practice Areas: Practice focuses on Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz's insolvency practice, representing bank and bondholder groups and creditors' committees, acquirers, and investment funds, in many large chapter 11 cases and out-of-court restructurings, including the Kerzner, Washington Mutual, Cinram, Lyondell, Fontainebleau Las Vegas, Masonite, Fairpoint Communications, Spectrum Brands, American Media, Cinram, Delphi Corporation, Pacific Gas & Electric Company, Rand McNally & Company, Allegheny Energy, Viatel, Integrated Health, LTV Corp. and Autocam Corp. matters, and borrowers in leveraged buyouts, mergers and other complex financing transactions.
Professional Memberships: Active member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York (recently serving on its Committee on Bankruptcy & Corporate Reorganisation), the New York State Bar and the American Bar Association. Co-Chair of the International Secured Transactions & Insolvency Committee of the ABA Section of International Law, fellow in the American College of Bankruptcy, vice-chair of the Bankruptcy and Reorganization Group of the UJA - Federation of New York's Lawyers Division, and member of the Board of Trustees of the Boy Scouts of America's Greater New York Councils. Founded the Mason Family Civic League, a 501(c)(3) charity dedicated to providing educational, art and civic support in Hoboken, New Jersey and beyond.
Career: Partner at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz since 1994. Named one of the 'Outstanding Young Bankruptcy Lawyers of the Year' by the 'Turnarounds & Workouts' magazine. Listed in the K&A Restructuring Register as one of the top 100 restructuring advisors in the US. Has given numerous seminars on bankruptcy subjects for the Practising Law Institute, the Canadian Institute, the New York University School of Law Bankruptcy and Reorganization Workshop, the NYU Pollack Center for Law and Business, Columbia University Business School and other prominent organisations.
Publications: Co-author of 'Collier's Bankruptcy Practice Guide'.
Personal: Graduated magna cum laude from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1983 (BS, Economics) where he was inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi honour fraternity; and cum laude from New York University in 1987 (JD) where became a Member of the Order of the Coif and was on the staff of the 'Annual Survey of American Law'.
