Practice Areas: Practice focuses on antitrust matters, particularly relating to mergers and acquisitions. Recent transactions in which Mrs. Gotts advised include International Paper/Temple-Inland, CerturyLiink/Savvis, Publicis/Rosetta, Google/Nortel Networks, AMB/Prologis, RockTenn/Smufit-Stone, Televisa/Univision, Phillips-Van Heusen/Tommy Hilfiger, and CenturyTel/Qwest.  

Professional Memberships: Has long been an active participant in the Section of Antitrust Law of the American Bar Association, having served as Chair of the Section in 2009-2010 and previously as the International Officer and the Chair of the Mergers and Acquisitions Committee; currently a member of the American Law Institute. Served as the President of the Washington Council of Lawyers in 1995, as the Chair of the Antitrust and Trade Regulation Section of the Federal Bar Association from 1995-97, as Chair of the New York State Bar Association’s Antitrust Section in 2005-06.  

Career: Partner at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz. Previously worked as a staff attorney in the Bureau of Competition of the Federal Trade Commission in conduct and merger investigations, and in the FTC Bureau of Consumer Protection. In 2011, was awarded the William T. Lifland Service Award by the New York State Bar Association Antitrust Section.  

Publications: Frequent lecturer on antitrust topics; published over 150 articles on antitrust related topics relating to mergers and acquisitions and Hart-Scott-Rodino compliance; editor of the ABA Antitrust Section’s Merger Review Process treatise; Member of the advisory boards of ‘Antitrust & Trade Regulation Report’, ‘Antitrust Counselor’ and ‘Antitrust Report and serves as the co-editor of ‘Competition Law International’.  

Personal: Graduated magna cum laude from the University of Maryland (BA), where she was elected to membership in Phi Beta Kappa; and cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center in 1984 (JD). Member of Legal Advisors of Legal Momentum and Counsel’s Council of Lincoln Center.
