Practice Areas: Practice focuses on creditors' rights, bankruptcy, debt restructurings, and derivative and financial markets transactions. Recent representations include U.S. Treasury in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac rescues and major creditors of Lehman Brothers, MF Global, Thornburg Mortgage, Collins & Aikman, American Home Mortgage, KKR Atlantic and Pacific, Northwest Airlines, Blockbuster, Meridian Automotive, HealthSouth, 360networks, Independent Wireless One, Looking Glass Networks, National Century Financial Enterprises, Axon, Victoria Finance, Ottimo, American Business Financial Services, and Navigator Gas.  

Professional Memberships: Conferee of the National Bankruptcy Conference (Co-Chair of the Capital Markets Committee); Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy; member of the Steering Committee of the Board of Visitors of Columbia Law School; former Chair of the Committee on Bankruptcy and Corporate Reorganisation of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.  

Career: Partner at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz since 1981. Chair of its Restructuring and Finance Department. Has more than 36 years experience in representing: the principal lenders, bondholders and underwriters in Chapter 11 cases and out-of-court debt restructurings of a wide range of public and private companies; purchasers of and investors in major financially-distressed companies; and dealers and other market participants in connection with derivatives, repurchase agreements, securities loans and other financial market transactions. Winner of 2006 Chambers Shield of Excellence in Bankruptcy.  

Publications: Contributing author to 'Collier on Bankruptcy' and author of numerous published articles and outlines on bankruptcy-related topics.  

Personal: Graduated with distinction from Cornell University in 1972 (BS) and from Columbia University Law School in 1975 (JD); Member of the 'Law Review' of Columbia University Law School.
