Lehman Brothers enters global settlement agreement with Ambac Assurance Corporation:
Negotiated one of the largest single settlements of claims in the Lehman bankruptcy proceeding. The Global Settlement provided for the withdrawal of approximately $6.1 billion in claims asserted by Ambac against Lehman in Lehman’s chapter 11 bankruptcy cases; comprehensive and mutual releases of Ambac and Lehman from any liability; and resolution of the disputes between the parties relating to certain derivative contracts.
