FIRM OVERVIEW: Mazur Carp opened in 1980 and has concentrated on two principal areas of practice, construction law and trusts and estates,with particular emphasis on litigation and dispute resolution,with a strong suit in transactional work as well.
MAIN AREAS OF PRACTICE:
Construction Law: Mazur Carp’s construction attorneys have handled transactions and disputes involving projects and matters of most sizes, types and degrees of complexity, including public works projects (state,municipal and federal) from airports to bridges, subways, tunnels, water treatment plants and zoos and both large and small private commercial developments (office towers, warehouses, shopping malls, apartment complexes, hotels, and individual condominium and coop renovations). Mazur Carp construction attorneys counsel clients on all aspects of contract performance and enforcement, project delivery systems and management controls, design defects, construction failures, insurance and claims for delay, disruption and additional or extra work. Its clientele consists principally of general contractors, heavy construction contractors, construction managers, developers, investors, public and private owners, prime contractors and sub-contractors. Mazur Carp construction law attorneys regularly litigate in the state and federal courts in New York and New Jersey and are active in arbitration, mediation and ADR, and in appellate practice. Trusts & Estates: Mazur Carp trusts and estates practice includes significant litigation, estate administration services and all aspects of estate planning (wills, trusts and other transfers), execution and enforcement respecting its clients’ family and property interests and rights. Its attorneys have developed particular expertise and reputation in contested accounting proceedings, kinship proceedings, and probate contests and regularly appear in the Surrogate’s Courts of all of the counties in and around New York City.Gerald Carp is an active member of the American College of Trust & Estate Counsel.
