Practice Areas: Desmond is a Senior Associate in the Family Law Department. He handles most areas of family breakdown including financial claims and Children Act proceedings.
Professional Memberships: Desmond is a member of Resolution (formerly Solicitor's Family Law Association). He was the English Law Society's representative on the National Victim Support Working Party on Domestic Violence (1992).
Career: Desmond qualified in 1985. He joined Bindman and Partners in London in 1987 before leaving England to live in California in 1997. He passed the Californian Bar Examination in 1998 and practised law in Santa Monica for one year before returning to Northern Ireland in 1999. Desmond joined Thomson Snell and Passmore in 2005.
Publications: Family Law Journal, December 2010. "Exploring Options", an article on the proposed introduction of compulsory mediation in some areas of Family Law.
Personal: Desmond is a former schoolboy international athlete. He competes regularly in road races and he is the current Kent veteran's half marathon champion (2011).
