Practice Areas: Partner within the Insurance Department, specialising in employers liability and public liability claims with a particular specialism in Local Authority claims previously having worked in-house in the Legal Department of a Unitary Authority. Joanne has particular expertise in highways claims, education and social services claims and claims for breach of confidentiality and data protection. Notable cases include Chakmakchi v Devon County Council relating to the applicability of the Workplace Regulations to non-employees and which appears to be the first English authority on the point. Joanne regularly gives talks for Local Authorities and Insurers on a wide range of topics.
