Career: Mr Hawke, a Partner at Arnold & Porter since 1967, was General Counsel to the Federal Reserve Board, 1975-78; Under Secretary of the Treasury for Domestic Finance, 1995-98; and Comptroller of Currency, 1998-2004. He served on the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, the Board of Directors of the FDIC, and the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council.
Publications: Mr Hawke has published extensively on issues of financial regulation.
Personal: LLB, Columbia University School of Law, 1960. He has taught banking regulation at Georgetown University Law Center, Columbia Law School and Boston University Law School.
