Profile

Specialisation: Extensive experience of disputes, transactions and advising on all other aspects of patents, trade marks, copyright, designs, confidentiality, internet and software issues, and counterfeiting. Award winning lawyer, James Love, is an internationally recognised expert in the field of intellectual property, an area in which he has specialised for about 20 years. He has a science degree from Cambridge University and is one of the few IP specialists to have qualified as a solicitor-advocate, giving him full rights of audience in the higher civil courts. He is also one of a limited number of lawyers with the requisite experience to supervise search and seize orders. James has gained an enviable reputation as a fierce practitioner in IP disputes and his views have been sought on national television and radio. Much of James's work involves an international element. Cases include: Conoco v MML, Gillette v Edenwest, United Wire v Screen Repair (one of only a handful of cases to reach House of Lords under the Patents Act 1977), Special Effects v LOreal, BP Chemicals v Smith, Dyno Rod v Glass and Glazing Services, Glaxo v Discpharm plus major international litigation in US and Europe. His new practice (see www.jllip.com) continues to provide specialist advice to clients around the UK and the world.
