This is a large specialist set with a national reputation practising from Manchester and Leeds in five specific areas: chancery and commercial law; common law, mediation, planning and environmental law and public law.
Work Undertaken Kings Chambers is one of the largest planning and environmental chambers, with members appearing before a wide range of dedicated tribunals and inquiries. Chambers acts in all aspects of town and country planning and environmental law (including waste disposal and management), compulsory purchase compensation and highways.
The Public Law Group practises extensively in the Administrative Court, sitting in London and the regions, servicing the increasing amount of public law work being undertaken. The group encompasses the range of public law work in community care, education, housing, mental health, immigration, licensing, local government and social security matters. Members advise and appear before courts at all levels.
The Chancery and Commercial Group has extensive experience in litigation (including agency, contracts, sale of goods, restraint of trade and restrictive covenants, corporate law); corporate and personal insolvency (including winding up, administration, administrative receivership and tracing assets), banking and professional negligence. Residential and commercial landlord and tenant work (including renewals, rent review, possession claims, arbitrations), partnership and all aspects of property and conveyancing. Chambers also undertakes trusts and probate work, and has members specialising in construction disputes, intellectual property and taxation.
Common law activities include all aspects of personal injury, including work-related diseases and injuries, sporting injuries, clinical negligence and all aspects of civil liability (contracts, negligence, nuisance, breach of statutory duty, health and safety. The Employment Team has particular strengths in race, sex and disability discrimination. There are members specialising in regulatory law across a wide variety of fields including health and safety, corporate management, trading standards, financial services, licensing, food safety, building control, gaming, and consumer credit. There is a specialist and dedicated costs team. Members specialise in disciplinary work across all professions.
Mediation has been embraced as part of the services offered. The team comprises of accredited mediators at various levels and with expertise in differing areas of law.
