THE CHAMBERS This prominent set was founded in the Temple more than 50 years ago and has always striven for excellence. In addition to a strong core of London sourced work, members have a substantial presence on the South Eastern and Western circuits with a growing influence in the Midlands and on Northern Circuits. This provides One Paper Buildings with unique opportunities to develop a broad range of work over a substantial area of the country, helping it to stand apart from other sets. The focus of Chambers’ ethos is to provide outstanding advice and advocacy at every level of seniority, whilst understanding and respecting the need for clear communication to professional and lay clients alike. One Paper Buildings was one of the first sets to be awarded the ‘Quality Mark’ by the Legal Services Commission in recognition of the outstanding management and professional systems that were already in place.
The Barristers Eminent and specialist barristers are present at every level of seniority, from Silks to Pupils, servicing a broad range of work.
Crime: Prosecuting and defending in cases ranging from murder, fraud (including cases involving money laundering and confiscation complications), corporate crimes (often including an international element, such as in the Cayman Islands), drugs and sexual offences to motoring matters; courts martial; regulatory work: acting for companies and Regulators;VAT tribunals; FSA hearings; inland revenue work; disciplinary tribunals; health and safety law: acting for local authorities, defendant companies and the University of Cambridge; sports law; aviation law; licencing and gaming law; family law.
Chambers has an outstanding record in defending and prosecuting cases of notoriety or importance. Examples include the Soham murders, the Huntingdon Animal Rights Campaigners and the Fallon racing fraud. As well as being recognised for having some of the leading practitioners on the South Eastern and Western Circuits, One Paper Buildings fosters a strong collegiate atmosphere of friendliness and support among all who work from it, enhancing its reputation for and commitment to equality and diversity. This is furthered through a strong emphasis upon carefully structured pupillages (including advocacy training within Chambers) and with the attraction of more established outstanding advocates into chambers.
Members of One Paper Buildings undertake publicly and privately funded work and many are qualified to accept Direct Access instructions.
The Clerks A close and dedicated team of Clerks is proud to be part of a set that is planning many years ahead, with several Clerks remaining since the start of their careers, sharing in the vision of long term development. The recent addition of a Marketing Director has led to a renewed energy in the retention and servicing of existing clients coupled with the timely pursuit of broader categories of work.
