MAIN AREAS OF PRACTICE:

This dedicated, full-service IP boutique was established five years ago in Santiago de Chile by young attorneys with extensive experience in intellectual property, as all of them were previously partners or senior associates at large and long established Chilean IP firms. COOPER & CIA. is clearly not the oldest IP Law firm in Chile, but certainly is one of the most respected, serious and reliable, as it offers a complete range of Intellectual Property services, namely, strategic advice, registration, protection, defense and litigation involving intellectual property rights, both in Chile and in other Latin American countries. The firm covers all areas of intellectual property, including copyright, trademarks, patent for inventions, industrial designs and utility models, trade secrets, geographical denominations and indications of origin, domain names, etcetera. COOPER & CIA. also has ample experience in matters involving plant varieties, legal advice in marketing and corporate image issues, publicity and promotions, assessment of intangible assets and entertainment law. It is also very strong in the areas of merchandising, franchising, licensing and distributorship. Its Litigation Department is known for its effectiveness in protecting intellectual property rights, in the administrative, civil and criminal courts in matters involving trademark and patent cancellation actions and infringement and counterfeiting in all fields of IP. It also has experience in cases of unfair competition and consumer protection.

Technical Proficiency:

The firm's staff also comprises high level professionals, such as engineers, chemists, designers and other specialists, that allow us to render full advice in matters involving transfer of technology, patent drafting, searches of State of the Art, litigation and counseling, in technical areas, including biotechnology, plant varieties and all fields of engineering and sciences.
