Profile

Practice Areas: Partner, Head of the Tax and Overseas Property Team. Advises on local tax law and its interaction with tax structures. His team deals mainly with tax issues and specialises in planning relating to the holding of real property. Chris is usually at the forefront of any major changes to local tax legislation and is perceived by his peers as one of the most knowledgeable individuals on Gibraltar taxation and its interaction with foreign tax systems.

Career: Chris graduated from Durham University in 1971 and then spent over 25 years working for the UK Inland Revenue. Before moving to Gibraltar, Chris was in overall charge of the Revenue's Midlands Special Office. He spent three years restructuring and heading the Gibraltar Tax Office. In 1997 he joined Hassans and was called to the Bar in 2000 as a member of the Middle Temple.

Publications: He is the author of the current edition of Tottel's "Gibraltar International Financial Centre" and played a major role in drafting and structuring the the latest revisions to the tax law in Gibraltar.
