Department head Slawomir Boruc is praised by interviewees for his "long-term experience and willingness to confront challenges." Recent mandates include successfully representing TVN and Polkomtel in two court cases related to the tax treatment of costs.

Tomasz Kacymirow is regarded as an excellent transactional lawyer with a wealth of experience. He handles tax issues related to M&A, loan structuring, bonds and corporate restructurings.

Key mandates include successfully defending Bank Gospodarki Żywnościowej in a tax dispute with the excise duty authorities.
Jerzy Martini left Baker & McKenzie to set up his own boutique tax advisory firm, Martini i Wspólnicy Sp. z o.o., and is considered by many to be "the best VAT lawyer in Poland." 
Janusz Fiszer of PwC Legal Szurminska-Jaworska Sp. k retains his reputation as one of the "best specialists as far as international tax law is concerned." He has recently advised a number of parliamentary commissions on tax-related matters.
Karolina Stawowska of Wierzbowski Eversheds moves up the rankings following extensive praise from clients, with one stating: "She is helpful, creative, and gives good business advice. She had a very positive attitude." Stawowska recently advised Emperia Holding on the tax implications of the transfer of its stake in Tradis for cash and shares in Eurocash.
