We are pleased to announce the second Chambers Latin America Awards for Excellence to be held at the Loews Hotel, Miami Beach, on Thursday, 16th September 2010. The awards will honour outstanding law firms and lawyers from across Latin America, and international firms operating in the region.

Last year, more than 400 distinguished guests from all over Latin America, as well as many from the US, joined us for this evening of celebration.

  • The inaugural Chambers Latin America Awards for Excellence were held at the Ritz Carlton, Miami Beach on November 4th. 400 distinguished guests from all over Latin America, as well as many from the US, joined us for an evening of celebration. The awards honoured outstanding law firms and lawyers from across Latin America, as well as international firms operating in the region.

  • Alexander Acosta, Dean of the College of Law at Florida International University, opens the ceremony and presents the first round of awards.
  • Jaime Carey, senior partner of Carey y Cía, with the Law Firm of the Year award for Chile.
  • Juan Manuel Pellerano, founding partner of Pellerano & Herrera, accepts the Dominican Republic Law Firm of the Year award.
  • Senior partners Nicolás Herrera and Alvaro Tarabal of Guyer & Regules accept the Law Firm of the Year award for Uruguay.
  • Arias, Fábrega & Fárega are presented with the Law Firm of the Year award for Panama.
  • José Evenor Taboada, founder of Consortium - Taboada & Asociados, with the Law Firm of the Year award for Nicaragua.
  • Partners Sergio Michelsen and Luis Barragán of Brigard & Urrutia pick up the Law Firm of the Year award for Colombia.
  • Freshfields wins the International Arbitration award.
  • Antonio Mendes, head of Pinheiro Neto's corporate group, is presented with a Lifetime Achievement award.
  • Stephen Zack, President-Elect of the American Bar Association, takes the stage to present the awards during the second part of the evening.
  • Samuel García-Cuéllar, senior partner of Creel, García-Cuéllar, Aiza y Enríquez, accepts a Lifetime Achievement award.
  • Pablo Viñals Blake and Alfredo O'Farrell accept the Law Firm of the Year award for Argentina on behalf of Marval, O'Farrell & Mairal.
  • Armando Arias, founding partner of Arias & Muñoz, with the Law Firm of the Year award for El Salvador.
  • Fulvio Italiani and partners from D'Empaire Reyna Abogados with the Law Firm of the Year award for Venezuela.
  • Consortium - Rodríguez Archila Castellanos Solares & Aguilar wins the Law Firm of the Year award for Guatemala.
  • Pérez, Bustamante & Ponce is presented with the Law Firm of the Year award for Ecuador.
  • The Law Firm of the Year award for Paraguay is won by Peroni, Sosa, Tellechea, Burt & Narvaja.
  • Senior partner Samuel García-Cuéllar takes the stage again to accept the Law Firm of the Year award for Mexico on behalf of Creel, García-Cuéllar, Aiza y Enríquez.
  • Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy take the Project Finance award.
  • Rodrigo Oreamuno, senior partner of Facio & Cañas, is presented with a Lifetime Achievement award.
  • George Harper, President of the Inter-American Bar Association, takes the stage to present the awards during the final part of the ceremony.
  • Partners from Pinheiro Neto accept the Law Firm of the Year award for Brazil.
  • Senior partner Humberto Pacheco accepts the Law Firm of the Year award for Costa Rica on behalf of Pacheco Coto.
  • Jorge Amado, managing partner of Miranda & Amado Abogados, with the Law Firm of the Year award for Peru.
  • Sullivan & Cromwell take the Corporate/M&A award.
  • Partners from Greenberg Traurig with the Focus on Latin America award.
  • Partners from Arías & Muñoz return to the stage to pick up the Central America Law Firm of the Year award.
  • Pinheiro Neto takes top honours on the night with the Latin America Law Firm of the Year award. The firm's managing partner Alexandre Bertoldi speaks on behalf of the firm.
